The series also stars singer/actor Ray J, veteran comic J. Anthony Brown, Roz Ryan ("Amen"), Noree Victoria ("Necessary Roughness”), Little JJ ("Just Jordan"/Nickelodeon) and Demetria McKinney (“Tyler Perry’s House of Payne”).
Executive Producer Roger Bobb, the producer behind Tyler Perry’s hit shows “House of Payne” and “Meet the Browns,” knew he wanted to work with Smiley.
"When the opportunity came and I started my own company I wanted to do another sitcom, so we developed a show about him and his family," Bobb said.
Roz Ryan stars as Smiley's aunt who helps take care of his kids. "When you work with Rickey you need to wear a diaper, because he makes you laugh that hard," said Ryan. "It was absolutely wonderful. He is amazingly funny, naturally funny. He was concerned about his acting, but there's nothing to be concerned about. He's wonderful."
Of course, Smiley has the support of his radio family who may make cameo appearances. You'll also see Smiley's cast of original character impersonations, such as Sis. Bernice Jenkins. "I'm ecstatic for Rickey. He has been wanting this day for over ten years and it's finally come," said Gary (With da Tea) from 'The Rickey Smiley Morning Show'. "Hopefully one day it will rub off on me and I get to have my own show too."
"The unique thing about this show is that it stars three established comedians, Rickey Smiley, J. Anthony Brown and Lil JJ, so if anything you know it's going to be funny," Bobb said.
Check out "The Rickey Smiley Show" Tuesdays, starting September 18th at 9pm Eastern.
